More calls to action among updates for August
Hello, Ward 3 et al!
Two emails in August? It’s more likely than you think! As the weather cools down and the campaign heats up, I’ve been continuing to reach out in any way I can, from knocking on doors to hosting a meet-and-greet to speaking at Civil Politics on Valley Free Radio to doubling my email frequency. Read on to hear about what’s coming up!

Debates
Last Thursday, I held a meet-and-greet at CLICK Workspace; thank you to everyone who came, and welcome to folks who joined the mailing list from there! Tomorrow night (Monday, August 25th) I’ll be debating with the other folks running for the ward 3 city council seat, which I’m very excited to do. The good news and bad news is that tickets are sold out for in-person attendance. If you missed grabbing one, it will be aired live on local channel 12 and online (my gratitude to the League of Women Voters and Northampton Open Media for organizing all this!)
The debates start at 6:30pm; ward 3 will be debating second, and likely starting around 7:30pm. The debates for ward 1 and ward 5 will be before and after; debates for at-large city council and mayor will be on Tuesday, August 26th, starting at 6:30pm at the same locations.

Deadlines
One of the best things I’ve gotten to do as part of my campaigning is registering people to vote (I’m up to six!) If you know someone who might not be registered, or might be inactive, help them to:
If they are inactive, fill out an online form, or print out a paper form and drop it off at City Hall (deadline: September 9th!)
If they’ll be busy during the preliminaries on September 16th, sign up to vote by mail (deadline: September 11th!)
There’s about two weeks left to make sure folks are registered and active! If someone is inactive, they’ll be asked to show a government photo ID (like a driver’s license or passport) to vote. If they’re not registered, they may be able to cast a provisional ballot, or be able to vote at their previous registered area. It’s much less stressful to do that paperwork now!

Spread the word!
If you’d like to help get my name into the ward, please:
Send this email to to a friend
Ask me for a lawn sign (replying to this email works!)
Write a letter to the Gazette (up to 350 words)
Talk to me about volunteering, or other outreach ideas
Next email, expect links to the debates and my stump speech with Northampton Open Media, updates from the trail, and more reminders about voting on September 16th!
