August: Preliminary Election, Meet and Greet, Lawn Signs
August update for Ace's Campaign
Hello, Ward 3 et al!
August has brought a little bit of cooler weather, but we’re still well in summer. My July weekends were well-spent knocking on the doors of Ward 3, talking to folks and hearing what they want to see from the city (and buying lemonade at every stand I see). I made good use of Forbes and Familiars as my favorite meeting-spots, and got to speak on the radio on Panorama and Talk the Talk. This month, there’s three main things I want you all to know, listed out below.
Preliminary Election
You know what’s happening September 16th, right? It’s the preliminary election! Because there are three people running for the position of Ward 3 city councilor, there will be a run-off to determine which two make it to November 5th. Other races on the ballot on September 16th are the mayoral races, and the city councilors for at-large, Ward 1, and Ward 5.
Do you have a voting-day plan? The polls at the Northampton Senior Center on Conz St open at 7am, and close at 8pm (I should know, I’ve worked them the last four years!) If you can’t make it, get a mail-in ballot today! And check your voter registration; inactive voters have to show ID at the polls, while unregistered folks have to cast provisionally. Avoid those fates by registering online, or mailing in this form. (Want to help even more? Ask a friend these same questions!)

Meet and Greet
Want to talk to me in person, or meet up with other politically-minded residents? I’m hosting a meet-and-greet on August 21st from 6pm to 9pm at CLICK Workspace, 9 ½ Market St. We’ll have snacks and soft drinks in the main event space. Come for the cookies, stay for the company, and bring a friend!
Can’t make it? I’m working on hosting another event in late August or early September, and very open to finding new spaces. If you know someone who’d like to host a house party, or if you have an event you’d like to see me at, reach out! Other places you can find me are volunteering at Salvo House’s outdoor clean-up this Saturday, August 9th from 9am to 12pm.
Lawn Signs
Purchased from the fine folks at Paradise Copies, I now have lawn signs! If you’d like one, send me your address, and I’ll drop one off in a few days. Donations are welcome to offset their costs, but are very much not expected.

For Next Time…
There’s a candidate debate hosted by the League of Women Voters coming up on August 25th; I haven’t been told yet where, but will keep you posted!
As always, if you'd like to get in touch with me, email me back here, or call or text (413) 341-2004
