The machine could fit inside a laboratory when it was ready to be used. Its insides, however, were vast and bordered on unknowable. We have extensively studied the principles that underpin it, as well as the mechanisms by which those principles are articulated. We built the damn thing, the first of its kind within our borders. But there are gaps in our knowledge. Sometimes, something just works. The material we were able to requisition from Kuleshov also has gaps. Similar, overlapping, but functionally different gaps. We do not know if Kuleshov's prototype worked as intended, because we do not know the intent behind its construction. Echo and Murmur were the first to make progress with the initial ream of documents, so much of it obfuscated behind walls of numbers and figures that don't quite go anywhere, budgets and allocation requests, red tape for miles, intentionally placed as a gate so that prying eyes wouldn't be able to see what he had found: an electromechanical process to speak with a dead man

It's been a while, hasn't it. We're hard at work on our next project, a weird multi pronged hydra of a thing that we're excited for you all to finally get your hands on. We'll talk more about it in a future one of these I'm sure but for now, we hope you are well.

I had an interaction with a mutual on twitter not that long ago (or it might have been a year ago by now, time being how it is). It went something like:

Them: there are two kinds of horror. The first is where there is a monster outside your door and you need to keep it out. The second is where there's a monster in your room and you need to run away and shut the door behind you as fast as you can.

Me: The third is when the door is the monster.

I would love to occasionally include objects of note in these transmissions.

If you have suggestions for sights, sounds, words, artifacts, ▓▓▓▓▓▓, mysteries, rooms, monsters, etc. that you think would be worth our time & exploration, send them to me to include in future transmissions.

Talk soon. Close the door behind you.
