Happy New Year, I think.
The world is freezing cold and on fire at the same time. Please be safe, everyone. Here’s a bit of less important news – and a tease of something really fun – to break up the gloom.
Scorecard prints were a hit!
From my October 2025 newsletter:
I promise not to bug you with these print offerings – I’m still primarily a scorebook maker – but I appreciate you all indulging me. I think this stuff is so cool, and even if I only sell three prints next year, I’m still having tons of fun making these :-)
Yeah, I sold a lot more than three. 😀 Now I will bug you forever…
Y’all surprised me with your enthusiasm for this one. I had quite a few orders almost immediately, and the stories behind these prints were so much fun. I expected people to request the obvious games – World Series clinchers especially – but I was blown away by the range of games commissioned.
Minor league championships. The 2023 “Reverse Boycott” game in Oakland. Seemingly random games from the middle of June. And yes, someone commissioned that monster 18-inning World Series Game 3 marathon from this year. (It nearly killed me, but I got two amazing creations out of it.)

It was the most fun I’ve had in years.

I ended up making two versions of this marathon – a two-poster set (above) and a single poster with all 18 innings (below).

Every one of the games commissioned had a wonderful back story. To those that ordered prints, thank you so much for the support. I was incredibly flattered you shared your memories with me, and making this art been the most fun I’ve had in years.
I’m going to start a blog in 2026 – I really want to share these stories with everyone. There might even be a book here?
Grab any of these prints or request your own. I can add your photos too for a true customized memento of a visit!
The small might be big…
I’m very excited to share a prototype of something I’ve been working on … forever.
I love my Square Scorebook when I’m at home or when I’m seated at the ballpark. It drives me nuts when I am going to and from the stadium, or when it’s time to get food. I have done the “tuck the book under my armpit to carry my food and drink” dozens of times, and it annoys me.
I have always wanted to make a scorebook I could stick in my back pocket. Numbers Game makes two great portable books; Lou at Thirty81 makes a micro scorecard that fits in a beautiful tin. But I wanted something that was the size of a Field Notes book – I use those daily, and they are the perfect size. So I built a prototype:

3.625(ish)" x 5.5”, perfect for a back pocket.
On the inside pages though, that’s a really tough challenge. There’s a lot of baseball info that needs to be crammed into a small amount of space. I never fill out the stats after the game, so those can go. I can dump specific lines for attendance, weather, etc. That helps.
But how in the world do you get 10 innings, a lineup and space for pitchers into such a small area? I’ve never been able to crack the code.
As I was working on the aforementioned marathon World Series game poster, I wondered if I could take the same concept – compress the baseball plays and dump the innings column – and apply it to a mini-scorebook. Lo and behold:

Forget about the innings column – draw a thick line after the third out, pick it back up in the next at-bat. Eight pitcher slots, big notes area to write whatever you want. I’m keeping it at 60 games, it will have a chipboard backing to make it stiffer, tough cover for durability. Probably priced at $28 – they will cost less to produce, so I can pass the savings along.
This may not be for everyone, and I wouldn’t use it at home. For the ballpark though, this is exactly what I have always wanted: a super portable way to keep me from goofing around on my phone during the game, and one that will let me freely use two hands when eating a nacho hat.
Early feedback has been extremely positive. Now I need yours. Reply back to this email, and I can send you a PDF of the layout you can print and test drive. Anyone who does so will get 25% off a book when I put them on sale.
(I am also taking suggestions for what to call this. I can’t call it a “Pocket Scorebook”, that gimmick has been taken. “Mini” is kinda boring. It’s not “Square.” Who’s got something good?)
Thanks everyone. Everyone stay safe and warm out there this weekend – we’re at -2 degrees right now in Michigan. Can’t wait for Spring Training…
