Government Shutdown Prevents Epstein Files Vote
Here’s what’s happening in Congress this week: Nothing
Two-plus weeks into the government shutdown, Republicans are still unwilling to negotiate extension to ACA healthcare subsidies in the budget. OMB director Russel Vought and Republicans are using this as an opportunity to fire even more federal workers with their goal of targeting an additional 10,000 for layoffs, including nearly all special education services employees from the Department of Education.

Meanwhile in the House, Speaker Mike Johnson has kept the House out of session in order to delay seating Arizona’s new representative from the 7th Congressional district, Adelita Grijalva. Why this matters: Grijalva would be the final name needed to force a vote on releasing the full Epstein files.
Call: Demand Rep. Grijalva be sworn in ↗
