Issue 96 - Inexpressible

It's hard to describe our situation in Los Angeles. So much is gone and will never return.

We are safe. We escaped the Palisades fire, leaving with our go bag and moving fast to the south. We'll stay here for a while, away from the smoke and destruction. Several people we know lost their homes. Entire neighborhoods, favorite hikes, and landmarks that we cherished are gone.

Shock. Followed by inexpressible sadness.

My son and his family evacuated. My daughter and her family are out of the country, safe. Some friends wrote to me about being surrounded by fires, but safe.
