31 Days of Halloween: October 7

Good evening, ghosties,

Animated bats flapping against a moon lit sky

A late one today! I got totally wrapped up playing around in AdamGryu’s Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival, the free pop-up multiplayer pumpkin carving game. Each year, it gets spun up just for the Halloween season. Players can wander around in anonymous ghost form, checking out the little town and placing carved pumpkins. (Thanks Andy!)

Boo! Can you find mine in the patch?

And every year there are new features — there’s already a little haunt ride and a mini maze. New this year is a haunted house escape room-style game… And yes, that is why I am only sending this late at night.

Anyway, I’m obsessed. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Looking up information about the above image led me to this absolute treasure trove of horror book covers from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s. (Ahh, remember when the internet was full of this kind of wonderful shrine dedicated to a hobby?)

Here’s a fun fact about me: I can’t read (or listen to audiobooks of) scary books anymore because they give me nightmares! Culprits include The Strain, “The Call of Cthulhu”, Heart-Shaped Box: A Novel, AND Gyo! Are there any books that you have to stick in the freezer like Joey from “Friends” because they’re too scary?

👻

Til tomorrow,

Laura
