A day at the farm and creepy creatures
Good evening, ghouls and ghosties,
We’re rolling into October with full force, it seems! I visited a pumpkin patch earlier today, and now my porch is covered with gourds.
A fun Edo-period yokai: the onryo of Sunamura, a pumpkin monster who creeps along on spindly vines. (Fun fact, its only known appearance is in a 1858 board game.)
By the way, have you found any strange or interesting Halloween-themed foods or candies this year? In 2019, I tried the infamous rotten meat-flavored Zombie Skittles, but it seems they learned their lesson and haven’t re-released them. Please, let me know if you find anything unusual (or especially delicious) floating around this year.
