[31 Days of Halloween] October 31+1
Spooky joy and farewell til next year
Happy October 31st+1, my little goblins,
Happy, happy day after Halloween!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with as many or as few tricks and/or treats as you desired. I had a lovely time answering the door to trick-or-treaters with the help of a very enthusiastic little hobbit, nearly ran out of candy, and promptly fell asleep on the couch at 10 p.m.

This has been a good October, if a bit quieter (and a bit emotionally rougher) than previous years. I probably always say this, but each time I reach the end of the month, I find myself wishing I’d done more in the newsletter—more jokes, more essays, more weird foods. But as I reflect on it, I did have a lot of fun.
I’ve loved all the stories and links you’ve shared with me, and I got to see and share some fantastic art in the process, which has been such a pleasure. And it’s definitely helped me get into the spooky mood as the weeks passed, which is the whole goal, after all. I hope it’s brought you some Halloween joy this month! (If so, you can buy me a pumpkin spice latte and cider doughnut at this tip link.)

For now, I’ll crawl into bed, and this newsletter will crawl back into its tomb for another year.
Wishing you so much love and spookiness! Seeya in 2026.
Til next October,
Laura
