The fight is simple, and that's why it's loud, prices are jumping while Trump says people need to tough it out. Voters are deciding whether this is temporary pain, bad luck, or the bill for a whole political project. Everyone is suddenly an amateur economist, and nobody is being chill about it.

1. Mild: Trump is getting blamed for the price of everything because he is the only person voters can name. People do not read supply chains, they blame the guy on TV. That is not fair, but it is politics. If your name is on the presidency, your name goes on the gas receipt too.

2. Warm: The economy can have good numbers and still feel terrible. A good jobs report does not make $4 gas feel cheaper. People live in the checkout line, not in a chart. You can talk GDP all day, they are still staring at the pump.
